Eyebrows Transplants

As many men as women are affected by patchy, sparse eyebrows and an equal number of both genders seek and undergo treatment. Technical advances in eyebrow restoration surgery allows all types of loss to be successfully treated from patchy or partial eyebrows, to tattoos (permanent make-up), scars or completely denuded (bare) brows.

Each eyebrow will typically require 250-400 individual hairs to produce a natural appearance depending on the existing hair and the density required. The placement of the hairs needs to follow the angle and direction of naturally occurring eyebrow hair and they need to be very closely spaced at a very flat angle to the skin. This is a very delicate procedure and requires specialist eyebrow transplant skills to obtain the correct placement of hairs.

The angle and direction of hair insertion is determined by using needles to produce the very smallest incisions, to minimise any scarring or damage to existing hairs. The donor hairs are taken from the scalp. The whole procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic and may produce some swelling and bruising afterwards. However, the procedure is essentially painless, as is the recovery period.

The new hairs inserted will, initially, fall out after around two weeks but will re-grow some 3-4  months later and will continue to grow throughout the patient’s  life. They need to be trimmed monthly to keep them perfectly manicured.

Beard Transplants

If you are missing patches of facial hair through scars, facial surgery or for genetic reasons, a beard transplant may be the solution. Beard transplant surgery, (like eyebrow transplant surgery) is a specialist procedure and the surgeon is now able to transplant hair to a man's face to replace patches of missing facial hair or create a full beard. It works in much the same way as a hair transplant procedure on your scalp.

Facial hair transplant surgery is often as expensive as scalp surgery because it requires great care and a delicate touch. If you are looking to create a fuller beard, it may be more expensive than just getting a small patch of hair transplanted.

Over time, transplanted hair will take on the characteristics of regular beard hair and you will be able to shave it normally, after which it will grow to a length and style you decide.
